Asheville School is one of the nation's leading boarding schools. What sets us apart? Who We Are View Gallery Asheville At A Glance Academics: A challenging academic program -- including more than 17 Advanced Placement (AP) courses -- helps give students a competitive edge. They learn to reason and communicate clearly, and they attend top colleges. But most importantly, they go on to lives of leadership and service. Size: With an annual enrollment of approximately 260 students in grades 9-12, the school is an intentionally small, close-knit community. Students: Our student body represents roughly 30 different states and 12 foreign countries. Although they come from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, students share a common appreciation for the value of good character, hard work and scholarship. Faculty: Our faculty members bring with them a wide range of experiences, talents and backgrounds. But they all share a dedication to the mission of the school, striving to educate the mind, body and spirit of each of their students. Honor and respect: Values matter here, from the Honor Code and student-run honor system to our unwritten code of respect. Opportunities: Students have many occasions to demonstrate leadership and to participate in competitive athletics, the arts and outdoor adventures. Integrated Humanities Curriculum: Our nationally acclaimed Humanities program integrates the study of literature, history, religion, art, music, architecture, film and dance into a four-year sequence: Ancient Studies, World Studies, European Studies and American Studies. These writing intensive courses provide English and history teachers a chance to team-teach, and students learn to discover more connections and realize how these areas of study relate to one another. The Humanities program has sponsored such recent classroom visitors as author/historian Sarah Vowell, bestselling novelist Ann Patchett, Author of Friday Night Lights - Buzz Bissinger, and Coleman Barks, bestselling...
