The Bishop Strachan School

Address

298 Lonsdale Road
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

On the first day of school in 1867, the founders of The Bishop Strachan School (BSS) opened the doors with the intention of educating girls and teaching them how to be leaders. It was a new idea in its day, but the founders believed that women were equals at a time when the concept was radical. From that first day, graduates have set precedents and break new ground in whatever path they have chosen. At BSS teachers stimulate students' minds and their senses of adventure. They are encouraged to excel at academics and to excel at pursuits outside the classroom, because when a girl is given the opportunity to try anything in school, she is given the power to do anything in life. BSS offers the full range of academic courses but with a twist - the latest technology and a global perspective are brought into every inch of the curriculum. Preparing girls for tomorrow means equipping them with the tools, experience and exposure to ideas that affect the world today. Girls are not held back by outdated notions that they can't be leaders in math, science or engineering - BSS knows how girls learn, and with the right environment and approach to teaching that engages their very unique minds, they can do anything. There is also a full range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses that BSS students can take to challenge themselves and reach ahead in preparation for university. Success at AP courses means first-year university credit in a number of subject areas at thousands of universities around the world. With additional summer programs, the BSS campus is alive all year round. The BSS Summer Academy offers credit courses for high school students. All summer programs are coeducational....
