What do students from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, South Korea, Cameroon, Taiwan, India, and Germany have in common? They are all part of The Pennington School, a diverse community of creative, inquisitive, and enthusiastic learners in grades six through twelve. These students have chosen to attend Pennington because they do not fear challenges and they are open to new experiences. Pennington is a place where they can be themselves, a nurturing community that embraces differences and celebrates individual expression. It is a place where students can immerse themselves in academics, the arts, athletics, and service, and it is a place they often call home – boarding students comprise over 25 percent of the student body. Since 1838 The Pennington School has been educating and mentoring our students, encouraging them to become their best selves and to lead a life of service and integrity. In the classrooms, in the art studios, on the playing fields, and in the dormitories, a talented, passionate, and empathetic faculty engages with students in meaningful and purposeful ways. Walk through any academic building, take a seat in the dining hall, or stand at the sidelines of an athletic contest and you will witness how positively students and adults interact and how every moment at Pennington becomes a teaching moment. In front of the Meckler Library, three benches display the words “Humilty, Virtue, and Honor” – a phrase created by Pennington’s legendary headmaster, Francis Harvey Green. This phrase has come to symbolize all that a Pennington education represents. We work hard to make sure that our students become good and well-educated young adults who will go on to become leaders who are globally aware, work collaboratively, think critically, and who are engaged in their communities.
